Today I had lunch with some friends from high-school. We talked about music and memories of school days. We almost got into a fist-fight over byzantine history. This album is in celebration of good food and good friends.


The fake.music project has been going for about 5 years, and has produced over 22000 individual soundfiles.

In software terms, these can be considered as unit tests or proof of concept for whatever ideas or functionality I was focused on at the time.

randomAlbum is a micro-system that I built using my own Offsider technology, and it produces albums by randomly selecting tracks from this catalogue. The albums are structured such that the individual tracks are chosen in reverse chronological order, and have a heavy bias towards the most recent work. It cycles twice through the catalogue, and stops when it has 60 minutes of music.

I found this particular randomAlbum quite enjoyable, so I decided to publish it on bandcamp.com. It is a good representative sample of the breadth of the fake.music project.

The album cover is from some experiments I was doing about 10 years ago with cellular automata.
